The Beginners Guide to Running a Mile

I read a new book the other week called You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero. It was great- I downloaded it on Audible as well so that I could listen to it on my way to work. I cannot recommend this book enough!

It really gave me the push to start thinking of my goals in life and what I want to improve on. My health has always been a big driving factor in my life, especially the few months.

I’ve always wanted to get more into running, but it hasn’t always come easy. Something in YAABA really stuck out to me, she said, “set goals right outside of your comfort zone and go from there.” Start with 1/2 a mile per day, put on a great playlist, and just go out and do it. You don’t have to even start with a mile- just do 1/2 if that’s outside of your comfort zone. The whole point is just getting out there and doing it.

When I was in high school, my cheer coach would have us do running in intervals since it increased heart rate and built muscle. Running intervals are great for both those reasons, but it also helps trick your body into a state of rest, jogging, and running, so it’s a great fat burning exercise, as well as helps you build up muscle so that you can run longer & easier.

So, thanks to Jen, I’m going for it and turning into the best blogger, marketing professional, friend, girl friend, and health coach I can be. All while having a ton of fun, of course. 😉

I’ve started to ease into running by interval training because that’s works best for me. If you want to ease into running a mile, I challenge you do try out this plan for a week! Let me know how it goes.
