Instagram Round Up! vol. 2

I realize not alllll of you have Instagram [although I’m extremely obsessed with it and don’t understand how not everyone can not be 😉 ], so I thought I’d share with you all some of my simple go-to’s I typically reserve for my Insta!

{In case you missed it, you can find my first Instagram Round Up here!}

While I love to cook, I also love to go out to eat. I enjoy the whole atmosphere of getting out with your friends and not needing to worry about cooking, cleaning, and ensuring everyone likes the food. When going out, I try to keep my choices light since typically restaurants pack calories into their meals. Deerwood Bistro is my favorite breakfast & lunch spot in Jacksonville. Here I ordered their curry chicken salad in a spinach wrap & a side salad. I’ve never had better curry chicken salad! It’s packed with raisins, spices, and the sauce isn’t too heavy.

Post Workout Snack

My post workout snack is super simple but packed with flavor & very filling! I toast a slice of Ezekiel 4:9 bread, a tablespoon of Justin’s vanilla almond butter, and fresh fruit!

Healthy Snacking

I finally found a way to eat cottage cheese that I like (besides as a salad dressing sub). For breakfast this past week, I’ve been eating 3/4 cup of low fat cottage cheese, 1 tablespoon of local honey, ground cinnamon, and 1 1/3 cup of mixed fruit.

If you’re ever in Jacksonville, GO TO TACOLU! It’s the one spot I make sure to take everyone and I go at least once a month typically. (seriously, I’m obsessed.)

I typically do a roundabout order of different tacos, but the last time I went and captured it on Instagram, I ordered their spicy shredded chicken taco & their banging shrimp taco grilled. Both I top with their homemade guacamole and I ordered a side of Mexican street corn on the side!

Healthy Lunch Ideas

When it comes to lunches during the work week, I like to keep them simple. I’ve learned that working at a desk job, if I eat a heavy lunch, I just get really sluggish and sleepy right around 3 pm. Typically, I’ll stick to salads or wraps to cut back on the carb-backlash. This salad was raw spinach, black olives, fresh blueberries, artichoke hearts, and grilled chicken [cooked like this!]

Work day snacks

To keep myself from snacking on a candy bar near the end of my workday, I’ll stick to a flavored Greek yogurt. Sure, flavored ones aren’t as healthy as plain, but if it successfully curbs my sweet tooth, it’s a winner in my book!

Chobani’s flips in key lime is TO.DIE.FOR. I could live off these for the rest of my life.

Ice cream

Of course, you can’t always say no! 😉

Kilwins makes homemade ice cream, which I am quickly becoming more and more in love with! I’m a sucker for anything chocolate, so I typically go with their standard dark chocolate brownie flavor.

I hope you had a fab week! Be on the lookout for my next post: Nourishing Detox Veggie Soup!
