I can't be alone here thinking that it was just Christmas..?! I feel like I need to explain for the silent airwaves that have been taking over GPL lately. Life sometimes has a way of getting away from us, but I've had SO many exciting things going on. I can't wait to fill you all in! For one, I bought a HOUSE! Whaaat! I bought Dj flying lessons and held my breath while going up with him for the first time above Jacksonville. We've taken weekend/extended trips to Charlotte (again), Savannah, and so much more. This weekend we're headed to Dallas! There's so…

Low-Sugar Strawberry Cucumber Cocktail – Super Bowl Goodies Series

Low-Sugar Strawberry Cucumber Cocktail

It wouldn't truly be a super bowl series of recipes if I didn't add in a cocktail in here, am I right? I'm a big supporter of happy hour, but I also need to find a balance with cocktails. I love the fruity drinks, but absolutely hate the headache that comes with those fruity drinks. So, to cut back on that 'sugar hangover', I've started to make a lot of my own cocktails with swaps to lower them in calories, but also sugar. (When I go out to a bar, I swear by grapefruit vodka + water + a lemon wedge.) When I was up in South Carolina for my little sister's graduation, she got me hooked on Effen Cucumber Vodka. I love the subtle taste of cucumber mixed…

I am queen of holiday procrastination, but I really loath showing up anywhere without a dish in hand, so while all of these recipes are quick, they are also huge crowd favorites! Are you getting into anything special for Thanksgiving this year? My mom + sister are coming down to visit and we're heading over to a good friend's house for the day. Thanksgiving to me is all about friends, family, football, and wayyyy too many mashed potatoes consumed. ;) What reminds you most of t-day? I hope whatever you find yourself getting…

Skinny Citrus Peach Cooler

Skinny Citrus Peach Cooler

Oh summertime, won't you please just stay forever? I love everything about the summer. Going to the ocean, the sun being so hot you feel it tanning your skin, Pimms cocktails, rooftop bars, weekend getaways to other cities, meeting your friends at the pool, sun-kissed cheeks so that you no longer need blush, going on much needed vacays, salt water hair, a new lighter Starbucks order... I could go on and on and on. Recently, my family rented a beach house for a long week in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. My brother's girl friend brought some blue tequila and we had some peaches that were at the peak of ripeness so I decided to create a new skinny cocktail with ingredients we already had on hand! I've mentioned before [like in this skinny…

Classic English Pimms Recipe

Classic English Pimms Recipe

For 3 1/2 years, I spent the winter + summer seasons living abroad in London. It was definitely one of the best parts of my 25 years of life and I loved soaking up all the culture that encompasses that city. One thing my friends + I would love to do was head over to one of the outside patios  and split a pitcher of Pimms. Pimms is lower in abv than most mixed drinks, so it's perfect to bring to a daytime bbq or event where you'll be sipping for an extended period of time. It's very light, not too sweet, and it's packed with fresh ingredients to make it light and just scream right in your face: it's summertime! This past week, my family + some of our friends headed to the Outerbanks in…

How To Order the Starbucks Purple Drink

how to order the starbucks purple drink

When it comes to coffee, I'm not too much of a snob. As long as it has caffeine and it doesn't taste burnt, I'm good to go. I've also been drinking coffee since the ripe old age of 5 (blame my grandparents) so I just generally love the taste of it. I love coffee so much that whenever I go to Starbucks, or any coffee shop for that matter, I don't even think to look at the other menu items. I'm also definitely one of those people that just neeeeeeds their morning cup of joe before I can function, and not to be completely dramatic here, but I'm pretty sure part of my blood type consists of coffee to a certain degree. ;) So when Starbucks launched their secret rainbow drink line, I wasn't…

Memorial Day Skinny Fruit Punch Sangria

"Skinny-Sangria"

Happy Memorial Day weekend! To all of those that have served, I thank you. All that have served gave some, but some gave all. For those, this day is for you. My family is highly involved in the military, so Memorial Day was always special for us. We'd take the day to be thankful for those that have served, are currently serving, and us having the freedom to all be together. We'd do the typical Memorial Day activities, cook out, play games, but we'd always be sure to remember the reason why this day is so special. This Memorial Day weekend, two of our friends from WVU, Erik & Val are coming up for the weekend from Philly. We're going to explore Jacksonville, probably head down to St. Augustine, and, of course, spend plenty…

Vodka Ginger Fizz

Vodka Ginger Fizz

Happy 2016! I can't wait to share with you my holiday recap post; we hit 9 states (some multiple times) in 13 days! Our first stop was my mom's place in North Carolina. She lives right on the water, which makes up for how tiny the town is. I'm used to living in large cities so don't know what to do with myself when I'm not surrounded by constant activity options, but it does allow us to have a lot of family time, which is nice since she's just been back in America for about a year. We like to make drinks, play games, watch movies, and catch up on life. We're all a huge fan of ginger so when I saw my mom had a new ginger liqueur, I was excited to play around…
